The film's plot revolves around an outlaw with a bounty on his head who must travel to the Kansas to get her 13-year-old grandson out of prison when he is convicted of accidental murder and strength.
Alongside Baldwin, Rust's cast includes Travis Fimmel, Brady Noon, Frances Fisher and Jensen Ackles. Production on the film began earlier this month, though it suffered a major setback as Souza was injured and Hutchins was killed by Baldwin. With an ongoing investigation into the matter, the star at the center of it all has opened up about the incident.
A day after the incident, Baldwin took to Twitter to talk about the on-set tragedy, in which Rust's director of photography, Hutchins, was killed by the actor's gunshot.
Baldwin expressed a sense of "shock" and "sadness" over the matter and confirms that he is "cooperating fully" with law enforcement. He also said he is in contact with the Hutchins family.
The response to the tragedy on the Rust set was one of great shock among audiences. Many have drawn parallels between the incident and the one that took Brandon Lee's life on the set of The Crow.
The star's family also responded to the tragedy, sending their condolences to the Hutchins family and stating that no cinematic weapon should kill someone on the set of a movie.
Baldwin's response to the tragedy is the only positive that comes from the situation, with the actor assuring his full cooperation in the investigation and his pain to the filmmaker's family.
