Use of regular, irregular and anomalous verbs

Regular verbs are verbs that do not undergo changes in the stem during conjugation and their endings follow those of the verb that serves as the conjugation model.

In contrast, irregular verbs undergo profound changes as stem changes occur; can also preserve the stem, but endings (endings) do not follow those of the paradigm verb, or still, there are possibility of having both processes: the stem alters and the endings do not follow those of the verb paradigm.

With regard to anomalous verbs, their conjugations include more than one conjugation, since during conjugation the verbs have different radicals, as seen above.

Examples of anomalous verbs

So that you internalize these concepts and know differentiate regular, irregular and anomalous verbs, below are examples:

Regular verbs: verbs that do not undergo changes in the stem.

sing:

  • radical cant
  • cant O
  • cant sand
  • cantaste

to secure:

  • radical hold
  • hold O
  • hold hey
  • hold This one

Regular verbs whose endings follow those of the model verb.

  •  cant O
  • cant sand
  • cant aste
  • hold O
  • hold hey
  • hold This one

Irregular verbs: when there is a change in the radical.

  • feel O
  • feel am

When there is conservation of the radical, but the endings do not follow those of the model verb.

  • give: radical d
  • d or
  • d ouch

When there are two processes: alteration in the radical and the endings are different from those of the model verb.

  • bring: radical bring
  • I brought em
  • they brought

Anomalous verbs: have distinct stems

  • to be:
  • am
  • you are
  • é
