School violence is a multifaceted social disease and can occur for several reasons. One of which is substance use, such as drugs and alcohol. Students, school staff, or members of society under the influence of these types of substances tend to lose control of their inhibitions and often act irrationally.
Thus, the effect of drugs on the human body can serve as a catalyst for school violence.
Another cause of school violence can be personality problems. Shyness, for example, can make a student feel out of place among students. This can thus influence to be rebellious or to be noticed by any means. This behavior can also result in bullying and gang fights.
Furthermore, school violence can arise due to the psychological impairments created by dysfunctional homes. Worry, hatred, inferiority complex, anger and other negative emotions that feed the violent behavior, can develop in people when they are exposed to conflict between members of the family.
Furthermore, in homes where parents/guardians exhibit violent behavior, children/young people often adopt violence as a way of asserting authority.
