Currently, 138 nations are part of the IAEA. These are sympathetic to the fact of atomic energy for scientific and peaceful purposes. Annually, representatives of these nations meet for a General Conference in which they elect 35 members. to the Board of Governors, responsible for preparing the decisions that will be ratified by the Conference General.
In addition to the social and sustainable issue that the organization values, it is of crucial importance to world security, especially with regard to the use of nuclear weapons.
As several countries have technologies aimed at generating nuclear energy and producing atomic weapons (many even have these weapons), it is essential that there be a supervisory body for the control and inspection of this type of energy.
