To have a parameter, a survey by the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Maintainers (ABMES), revealed that if the growth in the number of higher education students that opt for distance learning is so high, that if it continues at the same pace as it is, in 2023, they will exceed the number of students in face-to-face courses at institutions private.
Unlike face-to-face higher education, distance higher education is not included in rankings of the best educational institutions in this modality.
For this reason, a partnership was formed between Canvas, the Rankintacs Network, the Brazilian Association of Distance Education (ABED), the Associação Brasileira de Training and Development (ABTD) and Grupo Gestão RH to bring an unprecedented classification within this category of teaching.
Ranking is based on four indicators: evaluation of tutors and course coordinators (40% of the score), popularity among employers (20% of the score), effectiveness of the technological resources offered by the course (20% of the score), number of students per tutor (20%).
By analyzing 200 courses at different levels (regular, undergraduate or graduate) in different areas, the ranking was established as follows:
