President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) declared, this past Wednesday, the 13th, that the National High School Examination (Enem) may be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite this, according to the head of state, the test should be held in 2020.
Last week, the Minister of Education, Abraham Weintraub even stated that the exam will not be postponed. He further declared that the test was not made to correct injustices.

The deputy president of the National Institute of Studies and Research (Inep), Camilo Mussi, does not have a contingency plan for carrying out the Enem if the pandemic lasts until November.
Mussi also stated that the Ministry of Education (MEC) and Inep have been in dialogue with the Ministry of Health. He explained that there is no possibility of Enem 2020 being canceled and, in addition, the postponement of the test would be detrimental to the access of students to the university.
An Inep employee, who remained anonymous, spoke about the matter. According to him, the institute usually creates contingency plans for eventual crises. Despite this, there are no specific plans for the pandemic scenario.
The official also stated that the exam already has delays in preparation. Even the hiring of the printing company had the public notice suspended in April, after questions from a company interested in competing.
In this way, if no printer is hired by June, the Enem may be delayed. It is worth noting that one of the services provided by these companies is the layout of the test in complete secrecy, which must be done in person.
Finally, the official declared that there are several operational problems in the “backstage” of the race. Therefore, if the obstacles are not overcome, there may not be an Enem in 2020.
