Youth and Adult Education (EJA) is once again a federal priority
CIEE superintendent Humberto Casagrande Neto pointed out that 27% of the population aged up to 24 is unemployed in the country. “Young people are always fired first and hired later,” he said. According to him, increasing the quality and training of young people is paramount.
“The productivity of the Brazilian economy is one of the lowest in the world. Even the Argentines are above. Internship programs are all about improving productivity, this agenda is also here”, he added.
Casagrande Neto also defended the proposal for the Green and Yellow Employment Card, which, according to him, intends to reduce bureaucracy in labor relations. “It does not conflict [with the internship and apprenticeship].
I see it with good eyes, as a citizen, as an entity. I don't see that it will cause problems, I don't see competition. This will bring more jobs, more supply, ”he said.
The study showed that the average number of interns per company is 3.06 in the Midwest and in the Federal District; 3.84 in Greater São Paulo; 3.24 in the Northeast; 3.67 in the North; 3.71 in the east of the interior of São Paulo; and 3.38 in the west of the interior of São Paulo. The average duration of each internship ranges from 6.7 months in the Midwest to 7.9 months in Greater São Paulo.
The courses with the largest number of interns in the country are administration, pedagogy, law, accounting sciences, civil engineering and production engineering, in that order. In the last quarter, the courses that most opened vacancies were law, pedagogy, administration, accounting sciences, physical education and the area of Information Technology.
According to CIEE's superintendent of operations, Marcelo Gallo, the main requirements that companies required from interns are computer skills (excel, word, power point and windows) and mastery of English.
Behavioral traits, however, are the most observed differentials during a selection process, being teamwork, versatility, good communication and ease in dealing with adversities.
“The company can offer the courses, but the behavioral aspects are more difficult to mold in the person.”
