Two large capitals will win next month an exclusive delivery application for vegan products. The startup Veggi decided to take this step initially in Florianópolis (SC) and São Paulo (SP), after the contribution of a round of investments of R$ 1 million in June 2021. The company was launched in May 2020, and until now it only worked via an internet browser.

Veggi has three partners, and one of them is Leonardo Nones, 24, who quit his formal job to invest in the company. According to him, not being afraid to make mistakes is at the origin of the company.
He and the other two partners – Allan Carneiro, 37 years old, and Rafael Ferreira, 32 years old – started the company selling lunchboxes, but the niche was not having much return. They then realized that almost 90% of sales were from vegan products, making clear the path that they should bet, as Leonardo explains: “It was very evident that it was the way to pivot the business. We launched the MPV (Minimum Viable Product) with another proposal in February and, in May, it became Veggi, the first 100% vegan delivery in Brazil”.
Logistics got bigger and bigger, as they expanded the platform to different regions of Florianópolis, to cover the large number of vegan restaurants on the island. In February this year, delivery arrived in São Paulo and already has 17 employees, divided between the commercial, support, marketing and product and engineering areas. The expectation is that, by the end of 2022, the number of employees will grow to 50.
Since 2020, Veggi has already registered 6,000 customers, and has 200 restaurants registered on the platform. Since then, 30,000 orders have been placed and a turnover of 1.7 million for restaurants.
For couriers, the platform offers better remuneration than other delivery apps, with a value around 50% higher. In addition, it also offers assistance with vehicle repairs and gasoline, as well as loyalty benefits and time dedicated to Veggi.
Leonardo gives some tips for anyone wanting to start a startup. “I recommend having partners. I'm the youngest on the team, but my partners complement me both in terms of technique and experience in dealing with people. A startup, in the beginning, is trial and error, you have to make mistakes quickly and improve quickly. You have to learn and move forward, ”he explains.
In addition, he says that it is necessary to be patient, because for things to work out it will take time and dedication, and for that, it is necessary to invest in market research before investing a large amount.
For 2023, they intend to expand the platform to two more capitals, Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Porto Alegre (RS). According to Leonardo, in addition to food, the intention is to include hygiene and clothing products in the application, so that consumers can find everything they want in one place.
