What is reciprocity?

Reciprocity it is the act of responding to an action in the same way that it is received, that is, it is something mutual, in which there is exchange, cooperation. It is what is performed at the same time, with a response corresponding to the way in which the action was performed.

The term originates from the Latin reciprocate, which means “responding in the same way / the mutuality between one thing and another”. It is a noun that has in its structure re-, which means "backwards", and pro–, meaning "ahead".

Reciprocity is an important value for good coexistence in society. In many cultures and religions, it is considered essential as it sustains life in society and helps maintain social rules.

Reciprocity in Friendship and Love

The concept of reciprocity also applies in human relationships of friendship and love, because for these relationships to be maintained, reciprocity is essential. At Philosophy, reciprocity is the intellectual capacity that helps to understand the existence of others in the world, integrating them into their reality.

In international relations, reciprocity refers to the mutual cooperation between countries, in which they provide assistance or exchange advantages with each other. We can cite as an example the diplomatic relations between countries.

A Bank Reciprocity it is a stimulus that the bank offers to customers who, in some way, contribute to the institution, giving preference to its services or maintaining a good balance in their account. In this way, those customers who are important to the bank receive discounts on fees or even exemption from these fees in some operations.
