According to the idea expressed by the CEO of Airbnb, Brian Chesky, the concept of “working in the office” is already something apparently outdated and will soon fall into disuse. Responsible for developing the application related to accommodation, the executive commented in an interview with The Leadership Brief, from Time, that the term “office” is something anachronistic, that is, completely outside the era in which we live, the era pre-digital.

Knowing this, he not only stuck to his words, but also implemented the idea in his company, announcing to employees that they could live and work anywhere in the world.
The idea applied is that employees no longer need to have a fixed place to carry out their work. In addition, no amount will be deducted from the expected salary. The company carried out an analysis and concluded that this period of the Covid-19 pandemic, which motivated the move to the home office, were the years in which the company produced the most.
For him, it is clear that the office we know is not the problem, however, it is already falling into disrepair. “I think people are going to need the space, and people are not going to want to work from home. I think a lot of things are going to happen; the office has to do something a house cannot do,” he added.
The CEO also asked numerous questions, so that the public could reflect. “If the office didn't exist, I like to ask, would we invent it? And if we invented it, what was it invented for? Obviously, people still go to hospitals and work, people still go to coffee shops and work – these spaces make perfect sense. But I think for someone whose job is on a laptop, the question is, well, what's an office supposed to do?”
In short, the office concept is coming to an end, and Chesky has already made it clear that his company, Airbnb, will be going fully remote soon.
