Literacy is a fundamental moment of the educational process because it represents the learning of alphabetic letters and their practical use in the Portuguese language. Teachers involved in this process need to keep up to date on methodologies, procedures and content related to literacy.
In order to help and expand the training of literacy teachers, the Natura Institute offers a distance learning specialization course, totally free, with certification validated by the Ministry of Education (MEC). The project is part of the Trilhas Portal, which aims to support teachers in their work with literacy.

The content is aimed at kindergarten and elementary school teachers (1st, 2nd and 3rd years). After reformulation, the course now has a workload of 85 hours, including new materials, such as the use of texts newsletters, literary reading, guidance notebooks, language games, cards for activities and reading in the acquisition of writing.
The material is available in PDF and can be fully downloaded from the Trilhas Portal Library. The adaptation of the course last year also allowed participation via tablets and smartphones, which makes it possible for educators to study through new forms of access. Another novelty was the creation of Professor Amigo.
In it, educators indicated literacy teachers to take the distance course. When at least five of them finished the 15 hours of distance learning activities, the school from which they were invited received a collection of ten children's literary works. In the end, there were 115,000 guests, causing the project's stock of books to run out!
The Project is in line with the Compromisso Todos pela Educação Target Plan (Decree number 6094, of April 24, 2007, article 2, item II), which establishes, among other objectives, the literacy of all children up to a maximum of 8 years of age and the encouragement of reading in the classroom classroom.
