The National Museum lives and items we thought were lost have found a new home. A very unusual home, but very dear to Brazilians: Monica's Gang comics! In the story created for Penadinho and his gang, the collection destroyed by the fire is received by Dona Morte, Muminho and other characters from the “cemetery”.
The story, titled “Irreplaceable”, is a simple, tender and, at the same time, quite provocative tribute. The importance of the 20 million pieces that were part of 200 years of history is translated by the attentive reception of the mummies Hori, Harsiese and Pestejef, in addition to the Luzia skull, dinosaur fossils and the ashes of documents lost in the fire.

Using the usual good humor, the comics demonstrate the honor of the characters in hosting such important pieces in the history of humanity. The story was published on the official fanpage of Turma da Mônica and affectionately dedicated to the institution using the hashtag #museunacionalvive.
The publication joins the efforts of international organizations engaged in the reconstruction of the most important scientific institution in the country. Confirming that the memory of the National Museum can be kept alive in affective gestures, Dona Morte closes the story incisively: “Because history never really dies, if we keep it alive".
