Students benefiting from the Student Financing Fund (Fies) must renew their contracts by November 23rd. The deadline, which would end on November 16, was extended by the National Education Development Fund (FNDE).

Contract renewal is done through the SisFies system. According to the FNDE, the deadline was extended so that no student with a contract to be renewed is left out. "Due to the holiday, we decided to give more time for everyone to be able to complete the amendment process in the system", says the president of the FNDE, Silvio Pinheiro, in a note sent by the municipality.
The FNDE also points out in the note that it is essential that students access SisFies as soon as possible and do not leave it for the last minute.
Fies contracts need to be renewed every six months. The request for an amendment is initially made by educational institutions and then the information is validated by students in the system.
If the amendment has any change in the terms of the contract, the student must bring the new documentation to the financial agent, which is Banco do Brasil or Caixa Econômica Federal, to finalize the renovation. As for the simplified amendments, the renewal is formalized from the validation of the student in the system.
Students who adhered to Novo Fies and contracted the financing in 2018 must follow the schedule of Caixa, which is the Operating Agent of Novo Fies. According to Caixa, approximately 50,000 students signed Novo Fies contracts in the first half of 2018. The deadline for these students is November 30th. The amendment is made on Caixa's website. The new Fies, launched last year, has modalities according to family income.
The Fies modality has zero interest for candidates with monthly per capita family income of up to three minimum wages. In this case, the minimum funding is 50% of the course, while the maximum semester limit is R$ 42,000 and is financed by the government.
The modality called P-Fies is for candidates with per capita family income between 3 and 5 minimum wages. In this case, financing is carried out under conditions defined by the financial agent operating the credit, which may be a private bank or constitutional and development funds. The information is from Agência Brasil.
