Speaking a little more about the ranking, in first place, we have Mexico, with 1.9 million, and China, with 1 million visas received. The survey was carried out using official data from the US State Department, from January to December 2022.
An interesting fact is about the B1/B2 visitor visa, used for business and tourism trips in the USA. It represented a total of 91.76%. This is the highest number of this type of visa issued since 2015. Experts say that it is, without a doubt, the visa most sought after by Brazilians.
Study and exchange visas occupy the top of the list of visas most granted to Brazilians. Among the main ones, the J-1 had 13.1 thousand emissions, and the F-1, 8.8 thousand.
Rodrigo Costa, CEO of AG Immigration, says that, in general, Brazilians who are going to study or do an exchange program in the US are recent high school graduates or graduates. Brazil is the eighth foreign country with the most students enrolled in American universities.
Costa says that, due to the lack of skilled labor in the US, the country has chosen to open up more space for international students, mainly in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
This demand from students has also increased due to the very strong expansion that Brazil has had in terms of access to higher education in the last 20 years.
AG Immigration research also revealed that the most authorized Brazilian visas in 2022 were the green card. With it, the person has the right to live, work and travel in the USA. The most awarded category was the EB-2, usually intended for masters, doctorates and some type of unique specialization.
