A story recently shared by @andi_astra brought attention to a common problem that younger generations have with boomers (born between 1946 and 1964), which is: their inability to understand how expensive it is to live now compared to the past.
@andi_astra #stitch with @maryefrost still incredibly grateful to even be offered that much, but cant stop laughing about how they thought that would help me buy a house??? #millennial

Andi posted a video on TikTok in response to another statement from a TikToker which claimed that boomers are "so out of touch with what's going on for everything".
Her video was published accompanied by text that reads: “Proof that boomers have no idea how much it costs everything,” she says, finally going to see her parents after a three-year gap over the holidays.
The user says that during a conversation with her parents, they revealed to her that her grandmother had specifically requested that the money from his inheritance go towards a significant moment in life from the granddaughter.
Andi mentions in her post that she got married during the pandemic, but that with the high house prices these days, she and her husband are unlikely to be buying a house anytime soon.
And so, as Andi and her husband sat with their parents, they seemed to be debating whether to give up money to her or keep it, as her grandmother intended it to be used for something important and big in her life. Grand daugther.
Curious, the girl asked her parents about the amount she had left, hoping it would be enough for a big plan in the future.
Andi says in the video: “And guess how much money they were talking about after they sat across from me, debating whether they should whether or not it would help with my eventual purchase of the house”, “Guess how much money they were talking about… US$ 1.500”.
She went on to give some examples of the expenses she had incurred just to visit them, “My plane ticket to visit them cost $1,000. It cost me $300 to send the Christmas gifts they gave me home.”
"And they were discussing giving me $1,500 because it could help me buy a house."
While Andi is grateful for the $1,500 offer, she stressed that it's not enough to help her buy a house. And that she can't help but laugh at the idea.
