Procon-SP carried out a survey in seven large supermarket chains, seeking to raise the prices of items found in Christmas and New Year's dinners. In this way, it was verified by the agency that the prices of some of these foods they vary up to 76.5% from each other.

Some products compared by the research team at the School of Consumer Protection and Defense, which was responsible for the survey, such as panettone and chocotone, had a difference of up to 54%. A 750g can of chocotone, from the Bauducco brand, for example, was found for R$61.59 in a supermarket, while in another, the same product was seen for R$39.99.
The greatest price variation was found in the 250g box of cooked lentils from the Vapza brand. In one establishment, the product cost R$9.69, while in another it was costing R$5.49. Therefore, there was a variation of 76.5% between the prices of the same product.
In all, 67 varied and common items at New Year's Eve dinners were compared, such as fruit in syrup, chocotones, panettone, lentils, meat, ready-made farofas, olive oils, bonbons and preserves. The survey was conducted remotely between November 30th and December 2nd, as well as on December 6th. The prices of the Pão de Açúcar, Sonda, Clube Extra, Andorinha, Carrefour, Mambo and Kanguru markets were analyzed.
In relation to last year's survey, it was possible to verify an increase in the average price of 11.08%. The IPC-SP Consumer Price Index, carried out by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (FIPE), registered a variation of 7.35% referring to the same period of analysis.
Finally, Procon-SP's recommendation for consumers is that they prepare the supper menu in advance, listing all the foods, drinks and ingredients that will be used. Thus, it is possible to avoid unnecessary expenses when shopping.
It is also recommended that a comparison be made between the available supermarkets, evaluating prices, available brands and the quality of the products found.
