Last Friday, the 28th, Elon Musk, which bought the social network Twitter for $44 billion, tweeted that the app “will form a content moderation board with views widely diverse," adding, "No major content or account reinstatement decisions will take place before the board meets." After Elon Musk's tweet, a user of the network questioned the billionaire “So why have you already restored Kanye West's account? Twitter should not be a platform for spewing racism and anti-Semitism.” And in response to the Internet user, the founder of SpaceX, said “Ye's account was restored by Twitter prior to the acquisition. They did not consult or inform me.”
Kanye West's Twitter social network was suspended earlier this month after one of his tweets violated company policy. However, the account was never deleted or banned. Instead, he was banned from tweeting, and Twitter removed the controversial tweet, according to The New York Times.
The Daily Beast also reported that the limitations imposed on the singer were lifted after the removal of the tweet in question, following Twitter policy. In a post now deleted, Kanye West published that, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he would be “three suicide bombers against the Jews”.
"I'm a little sleepy tonight, but when I wake up I'm going with three suicide bombers against the Jews," he tweeted, according to the outlet. “The funny thing is, I really can't be anti-Semitic because black people are Jewish too. You played with me and tried to throw black ball at anyone who opposed your agenda.”
Since the day of the tweets in question, many famous people and celebrities are condemning the singer's lines, including his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
"Hate speech is never acceptable or excusable" posted the founder of SKIMS, Kim Kardashian, a few days after the singer's publications. "I stand with the Jewish community and call for the appalling violence and hateful rhetoric against them to come to an immediate end," she concluded.
Several brands that had contracts and partnerships with the singer terminated their contracts, such as Gap, Adidas and Balenciaga.
