Some rules of Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) have been changed. With that, drivers from all over Brazil need to pay attention and fit in with what has been established. If any law is not complied with, the driver may receive a fine or have the car impounded.
The last two years have seen changes in the Code regarding the use of low beams, red lights and even points related to the CNH (National Driver's License). In cases of red signal at the traffic light, the driver can go ahead if it is within what is established; if not, the consequence could be serious.

red traffic light
Law no. 14,071 established the moment when the driver can advance in front of the red traffic light. Evidently, the color means that it is time to stop the car and wait for the green light to open. However, the rule established an exception.
It was established that the driver will be able to advance through the red light when turning right, if the maneuver is allowed. The driver is prevented from moving forward or turning left if the signal is in red.
Therefore, it is important to remember that the red light rule is only allowed for right turns and in case there is a signal indicating that the maneuver can be carried out.
low beam
Recently, Law no. 14,071 established new rules for the CTB on low beams. Therefore, the rule established in May 2016 is no longer valid when determining that low beams were allowed on any Brazilian highway.
The new rule states that the use of low beam is no longer necessary. Now, only on single lane highways its use is mandatory. For cars with daytime driving light (DRL), it is not necessary to use the headlamp during the day.
The low beam is still mandatory in these places: in fog, when going through tunnels or when it is raining.
