The crater was found in a rock formation in the Leye-Fengshan Global Geopark, more precisely in the Zhuang Autonomous Region of Guanxi, in the southern area of China. Let's then check more details about the disclosure of the found location.
As revealed by the state news agency Xinhua, the identification of the crater was carried out during a local expedition that identified some issues.
According to the data collected, the site found is 192 meters deep, 150 meters wide and an incredible 306 meters long.
Also in commentary for the news agency, senior engineer at the Institute of Geology Zhang Yuanhai revealed something incredible about the site. According to the information collected during the expedition, the sinkhole houses an ancient forest inside, located at the bottom of the site.
In addition, the crater, considered quite extensive, still houses three different caves within its inner part, revealing more and more possibilities. Thus, it is believed that, due to the unusual formation at the site, there may be species not previously cataloged inside.

According to information from Xinhua, several teams were assigned to monitor the discoveries at the site. However, access to the inside of the sinkhole is not easy to access and teamwork was required to reach the area safely.
Because of this, the expedition teams were forced to abseil more than 100 meters before reaching the ground again. Getting to the bottom of crater, it was possible to identify several trees and other types of ancient vegetation, with some trees reaching an incredible height of 40 m.
