THIS common habit can leave your hair dry and dull –…

Most dangerous procedures

One of the main dangers highlighted is the indiscriminate use of straightening and chemical relaxations, which have components that damage the structure of the hair.

According to Dr. Amanda, these processes that alter the structure of the hair, such as straightening, relaxing, perming, progressive and permanent brushing, can cause allergic reactions and harm hair health.

She emphasizes that the individual sensitivity of the scalp must be assessed before subjecting the hair to these treatments.

Additionally, salon hygiene is a crucial aspect to consider. Customers must ensure that the environment, including bathrooms, sheets, towels and objects, is properly sterilized.

Even brushes and scissors must be cleaned and disinfected between clients to avoid health risks.

The risk of formaldehyde

Another point of concern is the use of formaldehyde in straightening products. Although formaldehyde can provide straight hair, it can also damage the structure of the hair, making it brittle and hard.

Additionally, exposure to formaldehyde can cause respiratory problems. The Dr. Amanda recommends looking for gentler alternatives, like keratin-based treatments.

To avoid allergic reactions, the dermatologist advises always carrying out a sensitivity test before using any product on the scalp.

To do this, you must apply the product to a small area, such as the forearm or the back of the neck, and wait 24 hours and observe how your body reacts to the chemical.

If redness, itching or any sign of irritation occurs, the product should not be used, as it may lead to scalp peeling and hair loss.

Finally, it is essential to highlight the importance of consulting a dermatologist for personalized guidance, essential to avoid risks to hair health.
