Among the artifacts found are fragments of pottery, tools and ornaments made of stone.

The archaeological site was officially named “Tupy Spínola Archaeological Site” and was registered in the Integrated Knowledge and Management System.
This find is a window into the rich cultural and historical legacy of the indigenous communities that have inhabited the region for centuries, offering valuable answers about their lives and ancient traditions.
The discovery of the Tupy Spínola archaeological site got off to a surprising start. The land owner, who was preparing to plant cassava, found something extraordinary.
While handling the mechanical auger, he came across fragments of ceramics, beginning a journey of archaeological revelations.

The alert about this unique discovery was shared with the Iphan teams during their visit to city in July 2023.
From this point on, an exciting search began for traces capable of generating insights into the history and culture of the region's indigenous communities over the centuries.
According to Rimara Motta, an archaeologist at Iphan who participated in the research, the recent discovery represents a significant milestone.
She emphasized the importance of this revelation, which opens doors for new studies and research on the indigenous groups that inhabited the region in the past.
Motta highlighted that, although there was already evidence of cave paintings from indigenous groups in the area, the limitation of these paintings is the lack of precise dating.
