Of great elegance and beauty, it is currently a protected animal, as it was on the brink of extinction.
Ocelots are medium-sized felines, larger than wild cats and much smaller than jaguars. The species is threatened with extinction. And one of the causes for the decline of these felines is the commercial interest in their fur, which is considered an environmental crime.
Males are larger than females, measuring 1 meter, plus a tail of up to 40 cm, weighing between 8 and 15 kg. The ocelot has a color that varies from very pale yellowish-gray or light yellow to a shade of brown.
The black spots tend to form open rosettes, drawing longitudinal lines. They are solitary animals, nocturnal, and excellent swimmers and tree climbers.
Every two years, the female has between one and four puppies, after a gestational period that can be up to 85 days.
No two ocelots are alike, as the design of their coat is like our fingerprints, they are exclusive and do not repeat themselves.
