The Strigidae family is made up of 22 species of owls, which differ in size, plumage color and areas of occurrence. Other items, however, characterize birds of prey, such as large eyes and fine hearing.
False ears or plumes are also common in some species. This is the case of the crested owl, which, measuring around 40 centimeters in length, has brown body plumage and shades of white on the head that highlight the “ears”. These, in addition to their charm, are useful for warding off predators: when they are disturbed, they raise the tufts of feathers on their head.
