The connection between the mobile application and the web/desktop version used to be made through a QR Code which, when scanned by the mobile device, automatically authenticated the web session.

However, problems often arise, such as difficulties in reading the QR Code due to camera problems or authentication failures. smartphone, causing inconvenience to users.

Recently, WhatsApp launched a workaround to this challenge by offering the option to use a one-time code for authentication. Still don't know the news? Let's explain!

Connection without QR Code

You can choose to connect in two ways in addition to the QR Code: if the first option does not work, the second will also be available. Here is the step by step:

  1. Go to the official WhatsApp Web website and click on the “Connect with a phone number” option;
  2. Enter the phone number with the area code (DDD) of the WhatsApp account you want to use on the web or desktop version;
  3. Enter the unique code displayed on the screen. You can do this by accessing a notification that will arrive on WhatsApp on your smartphone and entering the same code;
  4. If the notification does not appear on your smartphone app, follow the manual validation procedure;
  5. Open the WhatsApp application on your smartphone, logged into the account you want to use on the web or desktop version;
  6. Tap “Settings” on the main screen, located at the bottom of the screen;
  7. On the next screen, select “Connected devices”;
  8. Tap the blue button labeled “Connect a device”;
  9. Now, select the “Connect with a phone number” option, which is located below the central animation;
  10. On the next screen, enter the same code that was presented when you started the connection process in the web or desktop version. Make sure you type it exactly as it appears on your computer;
  11. Back on your computer, notice that after you enter the code, the web or desktop app will receive the payload of your messages and contacts. This will indicate that the connection was successful and you can start using WhatsApp on the web or desktop version from your computer.

After following one of the two options, WhatsApp Web will be connected to your device without the need to use the QR Code. Did you like the news?
