Police detained a 16-year-old teenager following the incident that resulted in the felling of the iconic tree in Sycamore Gap, which is located in an area close to the historic Hadrian's Wall, as previously mentioned.
The destruction occurred during the night of last Thursday (28) and, since then, the teenager has remained detained by the English authorities.

Northumberland National Park appealed to visitors to stay away from the area while efforts were made to ensure the safety of the site following the incident.
