The goal is to verify the effectiveness of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System, which includes the ability to send important alerts to telephones cell phones, radios and TVs across the country.
The test message will be simple: “This is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is required.”
For those whose main language is Spanish, the message will be translated as: “This is a test for the National Emergency Alert System. No action is necessary.”
What makes the test remarkable is the sound and vibration accompaniment. The US government described the alert as “a shocking and unpleasant alarm that will make you immediately stop what you are doing and reach for your phone to make it stop.”
This is a deliberate measure to ensure people pay attention to emergency alerts in the future.
In addition to cell phones, the test message will also be broadcast on television and radio in the United States, reaching an even wider audience.
This is not the first test of the US Emergency Alert System (EAS), but it is the seventh and most comprehensive to date.
Cell phone warnings are scheduled to last about 30 minutes, but users can simply turn off the notification as soon as they receive it.
In the unlikely event that a real emergency occurs exactly on Wednesday, the test will be postponed for a week, taking place on October 11th.
O US government is committed to ensuring that the country is prepared to face any situation, and these national tests play a key role in this process.
So be prepared for your cell phone to ring on Wednesday and know that it is just one crucial test to keep American citizens safe in any eventuality.
