Thus, during her career, she created the Pumakawa center, a rescue center dedicated to cougars. “Pumakawa’s mission is to create dialogue with farmers and ranchers. For example, we partnered with sheep farmers to address the damage that cougars cause to their livestock,” Kai told Forbes in 2022.
There, she lives with several felines and provides the necessary care so that they can exist freely. But one cougar in particular has gained Kai's attention and caught the public's attention.
Kai Pacha's contact with one of the cougars at her sanctuary is what surprises people the most. Called Estanislao Monte, the animal is an inseparable companion that shares the routine with its caregiver.
On his TikTok profile, Kai shares his routine and moments of interaction with the puma. One of the publications is about the moment when the puma simply enters the house and moves freely between the rooms.
Despite having a more reserved personality and being scared by the success of the posts, Kai believes that this content is necessary to show the positive side of living with animals.
For her, the web's interest in the puma “shows people's awareness, a need to confirm that loving is possible, loving someone who is different, someone who can't speak to you in the same language. But the connection goes beyond daily practice and that is attractive. Being able to connect with another being”, she tells the La Nacion news portal.
The animal arrived at the location needing a lot of care and, after examinations, they discovered that it would need attention for the rest of its life because it is blind. So, Kai decided to adopt the puma and, today, he is his life companion inseparable.

In 2022, Kai told a little about her experience in an interview with Forbes. She says that a serious accident at one of the rescue centers completely affected her life.
A forest fire devastated the place. However, nine cougars that escaped remained by Kai's side. So, she decided, once again, that the animal cause would be the direction of her life.
For her, cougars represent a beacon toward balance between human and wild. Likewise, the Estanislao Monte puma is a daily reminder of the importance of protecting and loving animals.
