According to Lu Yanxia, an analyst at industrial consultancy IDC, the launch of the new AI lacked highlights and comprehensive information.
She explained that the new version does not present significant differences from the previous one, and that substantial improvements will likely emerge when Ernie 4.0 is applied in practice.
As a result of another launch that was not so successful, Baidu shares in Hong Kong registered a drop of 1.32% in morning trading this Tuesday (17).
Baidu has been accelerating its releases to compete with companies like OpenAI, despite being the owner of the largest Internet search engine in China and has high potential to do so competition.
In the first half of 2023, the company officially debuted the AI Ernie Bot, a similar version of ChatGPT. However, the demonstrations carried out during the event were not satisfactory, leaving investors disappointed.
Despite the unfavorable debut, in August, Baidu received approval from the Chinese government to make its AI products available to the public.
Since its opening, Ernie Bot has already accumulated 45 million users, as reported by Wang Haifeng, technology director at Baidu, during the event.
