This index represents a 20% increase in relation to the numbers recorded in the previous year, causing concern about the well-being of educators in Brazil.
Among the various forms of aggression reported, verbal violence emerged as the most recurrent, affecting 76.1% of study participants.
Psychological or moral violence was the second most prevalent, affecting around 41.5% of respondents. This includes threats, insults, rumors and other forms of intimidation.
Rodrigo Bressan, president of Instituto Ame Sua Mente, commented to CNN Rádio, on the CNN program Education, that the environment of violence has grown since the return to school activities after the pandemic.
Bressan also highlighted that, despite this increase, the rates were already alarming even before the health crisis, something that was already experienced daily in Brazilian schools.
He noted that violent events that occurred at the beginning of the year further aggravated the situation, resulting in incidents of greater intensity and severity.
The psychiatrist explained that the school is a place designed to mediate conflicts and form citizens who know how to respect each other and deal with authority figures.
The post-pandemic return highlighted the difficulties faced by students in readapting to activities, such as remain in the classroom, take tests and interact with colleagues, creating a tense atmosphere and dissatisfaction on the part of students. teachers.
Bressan defends the urgency of an approach focused on mental health in schools, both public and private.
He highlighted that the first step is to recognize the problem and the second is to act proactively, promoting open conversations between students and teachers.
He also emphasized the importance of developing strategies to deal with delicate situations, such as cases of self-harm among students.
The research, which was carried out through the Typeform platform and interviewed 2,752 educators, took place during the month of July, reaffirms the need to address safety and mental health issues in the environment school.
