Researchers make big and IMPRESSIVE discovery in Egypt; know…
The Holy Land, including Jerusalem, was a place of great significance religious for Christians, as it was associated with the events in the life of Jesus Christ.
Religious leaders and popes of the time fervently encouraged European Christians to participate of these expeditions, promising spiritual rewards and forgiveness of sins to those who engaged in the fight by faith.
So many years after this historic event, archaeologists have found a true link that reveals some mysteries. In a search in the Mediterranean Sea, researchers discovered an object called “Nova-Yam”.
With this, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) got answers to mysterious matters. Its enigmatic appearance features a blade measuring 88 cm long and 4.6 cm wide.
However, this piece of sword revealed the link in that historical context of conflict and religion.

A thorough assessment carried out by a group of renowned researchers discovered that this impressive weapon was manufactured between the 9th and 10th centuries, making it a notable vestige of the expeditions.
An intriguing aspect of Nova-Yam is the way it came to us: covered in marine concretions. Such formations, effects of the interaction of corroded iron with the oceanic environment, played an essential role in its preservation over so many centuries.
Although the concretions obscured the item's original appearance, they acted as a protective shield against oxidation capable of destroying the weapon.
The concretion formations slowed the oxidation process, preserving the sword. Otherwise, the iron would have corroded and crumbled in the water.
Furthermore, with the use of X-rays, it was possible to see the outline of the sword. Layers of concretion and sediment hid its curvature.
Such curvature, in turn, indicates that the instrument was lost in a battle. This suggests a genuine and exciting combat scenario in which a soldier fought bravely before being separated from his weapon.
Finally, experts also deduced that, if the weapon had been used more often, its owner would have straightened it, taking advantage of the metal forging techniques of the time.
