Remarkably, this high demand did not have a negative impact on the functioning of the system, as the BC confirmed that the systems operated stably throughout the day.
It is worth noting that the previous record was dated September 6, when 152.7 million transactions were carried out in a single day.
Launched in November 2020, Pix had, by the end of August, a total of 153.36 million users, according to the most recent monthly statistics.
Within this amount, 140.65 million were individual users, while 12.71 million were legal entity users. During the month of August, the Pix system reached a significant milestone, moving more than R$1.53 trillion.
Also according to a financial study carried out by the Central Bank, the largest transaction ever carried out via Pix reached the amount of R$1.2 billion, which took place in December of the previous year.
On average, transfers and payments made through Pix total around R$257. It is important to note that the vast majority of transactions (93%) between individuals involve amounts below R$200.
In 2024, the Central Bank expects to see an increase in this number, driven by the launch of Pix Automático.
With this new tool, consumers will be able to make automatic payments on recurring bills through the account subsidy.
