Not just a sign of beauty, the toucans' beak can help name them. Green-billed and black-billed toucans are some examples, as well as white, brown and yellow-billed aracaris. […]
Another curious feature also provided by the beaks is the maintenance of the toucans' body temperature. Researchers discovered that, at an astonishing rate, the bird can change its temperature by up to 10 degrees Celsius, either hot or cold.
This process occurs so that, as its beak is vascularized, it can send blood to the area, in order to reduce the temperature in hot weather or do the opposite, in cases of cold.
