However, the latest statements indicate a positive change in the situation. This Monday (30), the Rio Negro recorded an increase of 17 centimeters, reaching 12.87 meters.
While this increase may seem modest, it represents a significant step forward for a region that has suffered from extreme drought in recent months.

This crisis in the state of Amazonas was described as the worst in history and had devastating impacts. Sixty municipalities in the state declared an emergency due to the lack of rain, which severely affected the lives of people living in riverside communities.
These communities depend on rivers as their main transportation routes to connect with the interior of the state. The low level of the rivers made navigation practically impossible for larger boats, creating an isolated situation.
According to information from the Civil Defense of Amazonas, more than 600 thousand people are being affected by the lack of rain in the region.
The situation in Amazonas is even more complex due to the impacts of another problem, linked to the extreme drought in the region: fires in the Amazon forest. These fires generate dense smoke that spreads across the region, significantly affecting air quality.
Inhaling fine particles in smoke can cause serious health problems, including respiratory illnesses, which poses an additional risk to affected communities.
Cities such as Manaus, capital of Amazonas, and other locations have air quality conditions considered to be terrible, according to measurement services.
All that remains is to continue following news on this topic, hoping that the positive estimates related to the water increase in the Rio Negro will be realized.
