The strong heat wave which has hit Brazil in recent days was the reason for the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) to issue two new alerts for residents of two regions. According to Inmet, the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rondônia are in a state of great danger. The same warning is valid for the Federal District region.

In addition to these states, the south of Pará, Amazonas and Tocantins, and a large part of Paraná and Espírito Santo are also under danger alert. Therefore, the forecast estimated by Inmet indicates that the heat will continue, at least, until this Wednesday (15). However, it is still not possible to say for sure when the new heat wave will end.
In the most recent alerts released, the expectation is that thermometers will register temperatures of at least 5 °C above the expected average for the season. Among the most affected capitals, at least seven of them are expected to record the highest temperatures of the year so far: Campo Grande, Belo Horizonte, Goiânia, Brasília, São Paulo, Vitória and Curitiba.
As temperatures rise, the risk of fires and inconvenience to citizens also increases. Therefore, it is recommended that Brazilians take due care to avoid dehydration and sunburn due to high temperatures.
Finally, the Ministry of Health recommends increasing your water intake throughout the day. It is also recommended to avoid physical activity in the hottest periods and avoid exposure to the sun from 10 am to 5 pm. If you need to go out during this period, it is essential to use sunscreen and drink water.
