The person who warns about this is sleep doctor Gleison Guimarães, in an article published in Veja Saúde.
It may be possible, but the doctor makes some warnings. According to him, when we drink the drink as soon as we wake up, we can have a greater loss of fluids, because the coffee it is diuretic. Furthermore, it also influences our insulin resistance – especially if it is the first thing you put in your stomach when you wake up.
The doctor advises to always wait about an hour after waking up to drink. This way, you teach your body to reduce cortisol naturally. “Take advantage of the hours from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm [to drink your coffee]”, wrote Guimarães.
Furthermore, he cites a “golden rule”: drink coffee no later than 8 hours before bedtime.
According to a study published last year in Journal of the American Medical Association, in very high doses caffeine can cause anxiety and make it difficult to sleep.
A very high dose of caffeine would be the equivalent of 1200 milligrams, or four to five cups of coffee.
According to guidelines from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recommended amount of caffeine for an adult is 200 to 400 milligrams per day. The equivalent of just one or two cups.
However, it is important to observe the functioning of each person's body, as there are people who are more resistant to caffeine than others.
