Astro for Business is intended to be used as a security device to monitor business locations up to 5000 m². This suggests an application for small and medium-sized businesses that want a smart surveillance solution.
Each Astro for Business unit is priced at US$2,350, approximately R$11,378. This amount can represent a significant investment for companies, but Amazon hopes that the features and functionality offered will offset the cost.
Purchasing one unit of Astro for Business includes four months of free access to Ring Protect Pro ($20 per month) and Astro Security ($60 per month), which integrates existing video setups and configures patrol routes and alerts specific.
Services can be upgraded to Virtual Security Guard for an additional cost of $99. This service forwards the video feed to a local monitoring company when it is activated by detecting suspicious activity.
Astro was already available on a limited basis to consumers as an invitation-only trial system. However, Astro for Business marks the first time the product will be available for purchase without entry restrictions, indicating Amazon's ambition to expand its presence in the enterprise market security.
Amazon tested Astro for Business in enterprise contexts for nearly a year before its official launch. This suggests that the company is committed to ensuring that the product meets the specific needs of the business environment.
Although Astro for Business offers advanced functionality, the price of US$2,350 per unit may be considered high for some companies, potentially being a barrier to entry for wide adoption scale.
