The Seismological Laboratory of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte recorded an earthquake measuring 5.8 magnitude on the Richter scale off the coast of the state. According to the laboratory, the epicenter was 740 km away from Fernando de Noronha, 1,100 km away from the Potiguar coast and 100 km east of the São Pedro and São Paulo Archipelago.
