It is more common in the south and southeast of the country, especially on the coast. Participants form wheels or pairs. In some variations, dancers shuffle their feet, while in others, they tap their feet to set the pace. For this, men wear boots with heels or wooden clogs. The musical accompaniment is made by viola, fiddle, tambourine and accordion. In the states of the Northeast, the fandango is also known as marujada.
