It is only possible to remember a dream when we wake up within 10 minutes of it having ended. During this period, the brain is able to activate the memory so that the memory comes (memory is only triggered when we are awake).
But normally, when a dream ends, we are in a deep sleep, not waking up, for a while. Then, you can't remember what happened.
This is still a subject that is being studied by science. But it is believed that the events we experience during the day have an impact on what we dream at night. If you have had a very memorable experience, the chance of this situation entering your dream is very high.
