Unlike the Caboclinho from Pernambuco, the caboclos of the Southeast ______________________ in the festivities of devotion saints and also receive the name of Kayapós, in the south of Minas Gerais and in the State of São Paul.
They represent the Brazilian Indian catechized by the Jesuits, who was associated with the brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Rosário. They are richly dressed, with feather adornments on their legs and arms, headdresses, petticoats, and carry bow and arrow in their hands. This element plays a percussive role in the choreography, as it marks the rhythm of the steps when the movement of stretching and releasing the arrow that, attached to the bow, makes a popping noise is performed.
The music is performed with a percussion orchestra and, in some places, the accordion is used.
In Minas Gerais and São Paulo, the beauty of the costumes and the busy choreography of the various existing guards draw attention. In the cities of Serro, Ferros, São Gotardo, Diamantina and Sapucaia de Guanhães, among others, the participants they finish their numbers by developing the Pau-de-Fita dance, in which they perform the figures of the braid-fitas, braid-handkerchief or vine braid. In some locations in São Paulo and in the south of Minas, they use masks of garish colors and develop a singular plot with the presence of the chief, who plays the role of a shaman, and a curumim, who represents his son.
