Stars are spheres of hot gas and they glow because near their center the temperature is so high. This causes the hydrogen gas that __________________ there to turn into helium gas. This reaction generates energy that appears in the form of light. The intensity of the glow depends on the temperature, mass and distance of each star from Earth.
