Blood vessels are made up of veins and arteries and act like straws that guide and transport blood around our body. Arteries are responsible for carrying oxygen-rich blood from the heart to all cells, while veins carry oxygen-poor blood back to the heart. Blood_______________, in addition to oxygen, nutrients and special cells that are important for the proper functioning of our body. That's why all cells need it, from the head to the tip of the big toe.
