Geometric shapes can be present everywhere. So, teachers need creativity when teaching. This is because even in a house it is possible to find different forms. Therefore, it is important that activities on geometric shapes are present during math classes.
With this importance in mind, we selected some activity ideas that can be applied in the classroom and also as homework. The latter can be a good option for them to be able to practice at home as well and not just at school. So, enjoy the tips.
Geometric Shape Activities helps students meaningfully develop models of working with geometric shapes and where they can be found.
This activity aims to:
Logical reasoning;
Identify colors and shapes;
Name colors and shapes;
Expand vocabulary;
Motor, visual and auditory coordination;
Creativity through geometric shapes and colors;
Socialization and cooperation between groups;
The ability to use the computer;
Create free designs using geometric shapes;
Produce works of art, using the language of drawing, painting, collage and construction.
It is important to show that colors and geometric shapes are present in the environment where you live and that they are part of your daily life, identifying and naming colors and shapes geometric (triangle, square, rectangle and circle) realizing the characteristics of each one and developing visual perception through the use of different Colors.
Make some geometric shapes in different colors (blue, yellow, red, green) on cardboard or EVA and spread them around the classroom. Show students a geometric shape and ask them to find the same shape shown among those scattered around the room. You can also attach the figures to the children's clothes and ask them to be grouped according to the same geometric shape.
Propose games using shapes and colors. For example, play with soap bubbles and emphasize the shape, then have the children draw circles of different colors. Provide drawings of an ice cream cone and ask them to color only the yellow crayon triangle.
Organize the space so that everyone can be well, present some geometric figures, in wood and plastic, and so start the conversation and investigate how far they know the geometric figures that were presented to they.
Explain that almost everything we use has a geometric shape, such as a pencil, eraser, notebook and so on.
Ask students to choose geometric shapes to make a drawing, which will be placed on the school's mural. Have material such as: paper, colored pencils, glue and scissors if necessary and let them make their drawings. Distribute a printed activity to identify and paint the geometric figures in the requested colors.
How about working with some images and paintings making observations and reproductions…

Below you can find two examples of geometric shapes.
“In Kindergarten there are several ways to explore the contents without using only pencil and paper. Most of the activities proposed above are an example of this. You can assemble a sequence of practical activities (visual, oral, concrete), and then register on a sheet. I particularly think that so far we have ensured the learning of the content in a very playful way, mainly with observation activities, reproduction, paintings, cutting and collages would already be a good activity with registration, but in any case, everyone knows the needs of their living room". Below are some examples that can help when thinking about activities for children.
“To modify these activities, leaving them in capital letters, just save them and post them in Microsoft Word. Then make the necessary changes and add or remove what you want (in Paint it's also great). See just an example. I took this picture from the tree, pasted it into Paint and erased the written part. I opened Word, put the slogan (title) and pasted the tree complementing the activity. An activity like this (cutting and pasting) should be done on a full A4 sheet. Here I put the same activity on a sheet just to illustrate”.
