Why do we yawn?

Yawning is an involuntary action in which we open our mouths and take a deep breath. This happens to humans and other animals. Many say that yawning is related to sleep, and it's true! Sleep generates a decrease in metabolism, and yawning has the function of getting around this.

When we yawn, we breathe in a great deal of oxygenated air and exhale the excess carbon dioxide. Thus, there is an increase in blood oxygenation and a decrease in body temperature, thus increasing our state of attention. This also explains the act of yawning when they are in groups. Many people in a certain environment cause the concentration of carbon dioxide to increase, thus, our body uses yawning to get more oxygen and eliminate excess oxygen dioxide. carbon.
