NAME:
This trouble happened because the father of the hero Theseus, who was king of Athens, had to pay tribute (a kind of tax) to the king of Crete: every year he was to send seven girls and seven boys as prisoners to the island of Crete. There, in a large labyrinth, lived the Minotaur, an anthropophagous monster with the body of a man and the head of a bull. When the ship arrived, the 14 young people were trapped in the labyrinth to serve as a snack to the monster. They entered there, got lost in the corridors and the Minotaur devoured them.
Theseus went on the ship carrying a new group of young men to the island of Crete. Once there, he was imprisoned with the others in the labyrinth. But it so happened that the daughter of the king of Crete, Ariadne, fell in love with him as soon as she saw him arrive on the island. She taught that to get out of the maze, you just had to walk down the halls unraveling a ball of thread. The hero did as she recommended, found the Minotaur in the center of the labyrinth and killed him after a terrible fight. Then he rewound the line and reached the exit, where Ariadne was waiting for him.
What does this myth teach us? That if we enter a maze, we must always carry a skein of thread. And that with a little creativity we can solve even the most dangerous trouble.
