How did museums come about

Since antiquity, there was the habit of forming art collections, which were, from time to time, _________________ for people to visit.

In Ancient Greece, temples dedicated to the muses were called “museums”. According to Greek mythology, muse was the name given to each of the nine goddesses who protected the arts. That's why the word “museum” came to be used to name the places where works of art were produced or exhibited.
