Located in the south of Minas, in the Serra da Mantiqueira, Maria da Fé is popularly known for being the coldest city in the state due to its altitude of 1,200 meters.
About 467 km from Belo Horizonte, tourism in the city is developed mainly through rural tourism, offering horseback rides and delicious Minas Gerais food made in the wood stove.
The Epamig Farm (Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais) cultivates the production of olive trees (one of the largest in Brazil) and medicinal herbs, in addition to having a wonderful sanctuary of bromeliads.
The Church of Nossa Senhora de Lourdes has a painting similar to the chapel of the major seminary in the city of Mariana.
The Cultural Center, located in the old station, preserves photographic and documentary records of the city's history, in addition to a 1918 Raldwin 225 locomotive, which is disabled.
