It gives flavor to food
This type of fat is produced when hydrogen is added to vegetable oil, in a process called hydrogenation. The industry manufactures trans fat to improve the taste and increase the durability of food. It is present in margarines, biscuits, snacks and some breads. Milk and some meats already have this fat, but in small amounts. Excessive consumption of trans fat raises bad cholesterol levels, which leads to artery and heart problems.
