It is not known for sure, but it is believed that the habit of eating feijoada with orange came from Europe, where, between In the 16th and 18th centuries, it was common to eat hot and dry dishes with fruits, both moist and cold, ____________ mix the flavors.
Later, it was discovered that oranges contain vitamin C, a substance that helps in the absorption of iron from beans and cabbage, in addition to containing fiber, which is good for digestion.
Another fact: facing a feijoada usually makes you sleepy afterwards! When we eat, especially if the food is very heavy (like a feijoada or pasta), our body needs to work harder to digest. Therefore, it lowers the body temperature to save yourself and gather more strength. Thus, we feel sluggish and sleepy.
