Electric power: what is it, concepts and solved exercise

THE electric power is what defines the amount of electricity acting on a component.

The world moved by light. Without it, society goes back to living in a time when only the candle was the lamp.

What is electrical power?

THE electric power it is the mechanism developed by the electrical current where it is safely converted for our use.

A simple example is the shower. How much more electric power, more heat is generated to heat the water. In other appliances and electronics, the electric power is who defines which one is stronger.

Every device has described its electric power to know the cable and the ideal protection circuit breaker to use safely.

Engineer James Watts powered and improved the steam engine and the power unit in the international measurement system received its name, watt (W).

A simple incandescent lamp that in a time of 1 second transforms 100 joules of electrical energy into thermal and also luminous energy, terpa 100 watts of electric power.

joule law

Joule's law, also known as the thermal effect, is the physical law that expresses the relationship between generated heat and electrical current flowing through a conductor for a certain time.

Who studied the phenomenon was the physicist James Prescott Joule in 1840. The unit studied was named after it.

The formula for calculating electrical power is described as:

P = power (W)

i = electric current (A)

U = potential difference (V)
